The Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems (SBSI) is an event for the presentation of scientific papers and discussions on topics relevant to the area, bringing students, researchers and entrepreneurs in the community of Information Systems.together. With this year's theme - the challenges for sustainable development supported by IT - the BSI aims to consolidate the national community of information systems, providing important references and discussions to promote academic research in this area, already well developed internationally, but still with few concrete references in the country
Information systems are strategic to the contemporary organizations because they automate organizational processes thus constituting a competitive advantage by enabling: scenario analysis, support decision-making, definition and implementation of new organizational strategies. However, the incorporation of information technology in organizations gives rise to new problems, which demand research for the conceptual aspects and the application in organizational contexts.
Research in Information Systems combine multidisciplinary aspects: computing, mathematics, information science, administration and management, organizational behavior. The application of the various fields of knowledge in the search for solutions to problems involving information systems is what motivates the realization of this event
The event "Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems" came from the GT2 SBC in order to consolidate the community of Information Systems in Brazil. The GT2 is the working group that SBC aims to discuss issues relating to the Reference Curriculum of the courses of Bachelor of Information Systems and related issues.
